I lucked out. It's far enough away from Christmas that I get both birthday and Christmas gifts, but close enough so that it's usually really festive and decorated everywhere.
And of course there's always the snow!

Dragon, some years I think my parents feel bad for me and actually overcompensate when it comes to the cash part of the birthday presents. (not that I'm complaining!)
The only people who don't really gift me for both birthday and christmas are some friends, but I don't really mind. I haven't had a birthday party since I was 12 or 13, and my closest friends go out of their way to stop by on my b-day and give me a gift and take me out somewhere.

My birthday is December 15. I love having a December birthday! The best part is that week of my birthday all the mail is usually cards, either Christmas or birthday, and rarely any bills!
My family has always been good about remembering my birthday, but then birthdays are a big deal in my family. We get together for everyones, even if it's just for cake and ice cream. Mom makes the best chocolate cake from scratch and it is mandatory for all our birthdays! As long as I get my chocolate cake I'm good to go!
My three best birthdays:
30 - Mom had a huge surprise party for me. She did it a month early so I wouldn't suspect and so everyone would be able to make it! Rented the church hall, had a DJ, tons of food, a keg and my sister-in-law got me a stripper! I had NO Clue! It was great! Mom later said she did it because everyone should have a big party at least once in their lives and since it didn't look like I'm ever getting married, this was it! LOL!
37 - Mom had a cook out in December for me! I live in Ohio. December is not cook out season! My brother brought the grill up to Mom's and did bbq chicken, and Mom made all the usual cook out food! We would have eaten outside but it was raining!
42 - The guys played in Akron on my birthday! Barenaked for My Birthday! Does it get any better than that? I still think it was very sweet of the guys to come to town just for my birthday! LOL!

Dijon - my stepdaughter's bday is Sep 12th! I will think of you that day! She will be 16 this year and we have been watching "My Sweet Sixteen" on MTV, which is just over-the-top sickening bratty girls getting $100K+ parties. We joke with Erika that she will be lucky if we spend $100 on her!
My Birthday is Dec 2nd! I love my birthday. My Dad's birthday is the 20th, and brother Joe is a Christmas baby. When I started going to college, they started celebrating my birthday on Thanksgiving so that everyone would be around. I liked that everyone was around, but didn't like that it was celebrated *before* my bday. I like *something* to happen ON the day, or after!!!
As for Joe, don't feel bad for him. He would celebrate with my Dad and get his fair share of birthday presents every year. Now that all 5 of us kids are grown up and away, we come together for Christmas and he ALWAYS gets a bday present and Christmas present (as opposed to the rest of us who get phone calls for our birthdays)! He has done well!
Burnt, we will have to have a birthday drink, er....um, dessert if the guys come to town in December!

Told, wouldya look at that, they are playing Mohegan just for you!
My birthday is March 18, and next year I'm turning the big 4-0. My husband's is August 20 (he's 42), my son will be 14 on Nov. 13, and my daughter will be 8 on December 6. We make sure not to gyp the kids on their birthdays even though they're so close to the holiday season because it's not their fault that I needed to do SOMETHING to warm up when it was so cold 9 months earlier!! ;D
Cinco de Mayo is a big thing in my house because my wedding anniversary is May 5, and this year was our 15th. We usually celebrate with Mexican food and margaritas... mmmmmmmmm....

my son will be 14 on Nov. 13 THAT'S AN EXCELLENT BIRTHDATE! *splashes water on maa* (a little Flipper greeting for ya..) I was also born in '66 - looks like you have a few months on me.... I'm the creepy uncle of the board btw - you know the one that shows up un-announced and makes everybody mad....
