Yeah Jessica! You are a clever girl! We are already seeing the mating dances between the finches. Our niger seed feeder is covered with American and Lesser goldfinches. The house finches are year round visitors but the Cassin's finches should be here soon, with the Grosbeaks and Warblers and Vireos. In April we will be seeing the hummingbirds (we get four varieties) and the Bullock's Orioles. We had six breeding pairs of Orioles last year. We have hosted them for the last fourish years. They are sooo beautiful and brightly colored. K... if I type any more I am going to have to move this to things that make me happy.

We get tons of hummingbirds, and assorted finches that are PIGS. They can empty our huge feeder in one day. We also get gnatcatchers...at least I think that is what they are, they are fun too.

they are all named jack! I though birds flew south or at least out of town for the winter but we still see them in this cold weather. I remember seeing a hummingbird at my Aunt and Uncles place just outside of San Diego, I was a kid and it was cool.

iled not all birds go south, and some go further south than others.
You don't have hummingbirds in the summer there iled? They can scare the crap out of you.......coming zooming up to within an inch of your face and just stop. I of course always DUCK like something is going to hit me. Perhaps that is their national passtime!!!

We usually see one hummingbird in our backyard every... ohhh... 5 or so years? We actually had one this past summer and I always mistake them for an oversized bee at first!

Wow they are all over out here. I have some plants that they love, which brings them to our yard, but you see them all over.
