we call it rememberance day in Australia and I went out and bought a poppy (money raised goes to Returned service league legacy fund) to remember those who have fought as well as died in times of conflict....included was a great great great uncle who died 8 days before the guns went silent at the end of WW1

Remeberance day here too. You all know Canadas place in war, I don't know anyone who knows anyone presently serving, but my thougts are with everyone who does. My grandpa fought in both WWI and WWII. My daughter had her concert yesterday and there was a veteran there, there were quite a few folks crying in the crowd. Thank you for fighting for our freedom.

My dad was in the Air Force for 20 years! My grandfathers both served as well, and my ex was in for 6 years (but he only built satellites)!!
All are remembered for their contributions!

[glow=red,2,300]THANKS[/glow] TO ALL WHO SERVED OR ARE SERVING!
Please extend a hearty thanks to your friends and families!
My Dad was a WW2 vet (Navy), and my brother was in the Army for 6 yrs, no active duty. During the Gulf War he took part in some of the support services.

Hmmm. Are you talking about my brother? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what 'active duty' means. He was not in the Army during the Gulf War, he was in the army before it started. So during his time in the Army, he saw no war-time action. But during the Gulf War, since he was in the Middle East for school, he was called upon to go to Tel Aviv for some support activities for the U.S. Army.

Active duty is opposed to reserve duty!!! So he was active duty, just not stationed where he saw battle. My dad flew refuelers, and saw tons of action over Vietnam, although not stationed there!
