Hello my fellow Monday merrymakers. Okay, so maybe not, but I am trying to be positive here. Friday's party was a smashing success. The math department showed up en masse and we had a great time. When we had the family over on Sunday it was a good time. I am glad we did it. Auntie Mae (pronounced "annie mae") and Uncle Bob got to see our home, meet my kids and visit with the whole family. The food was fabulous and must have been enjoyed. I made a 1/2 combo, 1/2 veggie lasagna in a pan that is 18x26x6 and it was full, full. I had four heads of romaine chopped, three big cucumbers from the garden sliced, eight large heirloom tomatoes from the garden chopped and two packages of sliced mushrooms. I had olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the tables for dipping the rolls in. There was a TON of food. Today there is less than a 1/4 of the lasagna left and NO salad. They ate like locust! That part was great. I love it when people enjoy food at my house (and I like to enjoy food at my house as evidenced by my size) so I loved it that everyone liked the food. Well, except for the olive oil and vinegar. That was too "weird" for them. *eye roll* The problem was that my SIL has a three year old and a one year old. The one year old is a little angel. The three year old is hell on wheels. It took the SIL over 16 years to get pregnant so there is NO discipline. My other SIL brought her three year old granddaughter to the party. The two three year olds are together enough they are like sisters. Really bad sisters. Sisters that don't get along at all. There was dueling with the cat stick toys, shaking the guinea pig cages to try and pull the door open, shaking the cat tree to try and knock the petrified cat out of the top, running and hitting and pushing and shoving and screaming and jumping on the furniture and... OMG. I want to send Miranda flowers for being such a great parent. I waited as long as I could to say something. The one sister gets very annoyed when anyone butts into her child rearing (or lack of) but I finally started jumping in. Then I would apologize to try and keep a family war from breaking out and she told me "it's okay, it's your house" and I thought, "but it's YOUR child." They got here at 5:00 and didn't leave until 9:30. Miranda and her family got here at 4:30 and I literally held Vincent the whole time they were here. Seriously. I got things out of the fridge with one hand. I was in heaven. He is so dang cute. But, since I was holding a baby until about 7:30 I couldn't yell. From 7:30 to 9:30 I was in shock. I hadn't been paying that much attention and everyone was eating so things were relatively quiet from 5:00 to 7:30. The girls were outside with Madelyn and she was entertaining/watching them so it was good. After that.... ugh We are NEVER having the family back to our house at the same time. Never. It was that bad. I have never seen such ill behaved little hellions in my life, and I have a very large, loud Texas family. They were awful. Kent made me practice saying "NO" last night in case the family calls about Christmas. Sorry to rant, but seriously. I am still in shock. I am off to clean the house. We were so tired when they finally left last night we just left everything in a mess. Unbelievable.

surprising, I am sorry the hellions made your entertaining less than enjoyable. I do not hesitate to jump in with parenting if they are in my house, they will live with my rules.....period, no negotiations necessary.

I should have. I was just in shock. I talked to my daughter and son and got more of what actually happened that I didn't see.
You have NO idea. Wow. Just Wow. I am not angry at the three year old, but the parents really piss me off. (pardon my french) They are really doing that little girl a disservice. She has been nicknamed "Devil" in our houses. How sad. I really wish they would help her become a likable person but they better start soon.
xoxo everyone. The house is clean again, the guinea pigs seem to be okay, all the cats are back to normal and we will never have to worry about it again so we are all good here.

" <flashy flashy> <boom>" Hee hee! (Yeah, I know if I were cool I would have quoted it with the quote feature, but my fingers had already typed it before my brain engaged, lol. <----feels a bit elderly with her old-school typing-it-out ways

I hope everyone is doing well. I am only having a Monday. Nothing good, nothing bad. Saturday did rain all morning. Yesterday was nice. This morning is pretty with rain again this afternoon. At least I don't have to water the lawn!

Monday. Suprisingly calm thus far. Waiting for the other shoe to fall. Kentucky is 5-0 and ranked #8 in the latest poll. I'm afraid the universe is shifting into some unexplainable alternate ego.

Yes. They thumped up on my alma mater a couple weeks ago. But that isn't difficult...
