I've been on that ride many of times!!
Nonick, did I ever tell you I worked in an amusement park back home?? I used to work all the rides, and I have to admit, we had more injuries on our flume ride than any other. (It didn't stop me from riding it), but freaky things would happen on it!! Logs tipping over (How you wonder, but they did!) So I agree, such a sad, sad, day.... but maybe they will replace it with something better!!

Nope, you never mentioned that you worked at an amusement park before, mob! Was it a really terrible job?? Pretty much all I've ever heard from people that have worked at Cedar Point is that it's sort of a horrible place to work. I guess I can see how people would get hurt on a log flume ride, but really I'd think it'd have to be their own fault. In which case, I have NO sympathy for them!!! I rode this ride 9.63 billion times with 2.4 million different people, and none of us ever got hurt!! Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating slightly, but you get my point!! I already know what the Cedar Point and ACES rumor mill says is in store to open for the 2007 season on the land currently occupied by White Water... but I'm not privy to say!!

"Worth every Penny"
Yeah... the accidents were mostly self induced... except the one time.....
While it rains, you can run the ride. If it lightenings, you have to close up shop, no questions asked. At that time matienece is suppossed to come and switch the "water" off. What happens is everything drains immediately. IN like 5 seconds...BAM No water. No problembo... right? Well, you can't do that when people are still in the ride. So on the tiny hill were two little kids who went down the hill and into the track like a tobaggan with out problems and then in the larger hill were two people (adult in nature and much heavier than the kids) and when they went down, they really went DOWN!! The fastest I had ever seen (I was working another ride across the way and say this from a distance). Anyway, at this particular ride at the bottom of the hill was a turn to the right and when the log tried to turn at such a fast speed, it flipped over and the people landed below the log and were stuck. Had to be cut out. No deaths or anything, but they were srcatched up pretty bad.
Wasn't there a death at splash mountain a couple years ago at Disney? I don't know the story behind that...
This being said, I still ride the flumes all the time. I'm not afraid, but I know what can happen! ;D

PPS:
Besides cleaning the puke and sometimes stupid people, the job was fine. Infact perfect for someone just 18 and on break from college. I wouldn't want to do it now!! ;D
