That's an interesting thought, BNLater. I was thinking it was almost an attraction to something that they "can't have" themselves. Hence, secretly these men are wishing that they could get away with having long beautiful hair to play with but since it's against the norms of society they live vicariously through their girlfriends. ;D
I'm trying to think of what the options for the poll should be. Any suggestions (other than long hair or short hair)?

My friend says "shaved head"...but you should be specific. Because then you can say, like, "shaved" "waist length" "mid-back" "shoulder" "up to ears"...you know?
My other male friend says that he likes long hair.
Oy.

That's kind of how I was thinking too, naming specific lengths and getting opinions that way. I like the "shaved head" idea though. Can't wait to see how many votes that one gets.

Alright. As the most posted male (I'm at 100 now!!) on the board, I'm going to jump in feet first here. For the sake of simplicity, I'll ignore all the "lazy" accusations, and chalk that up to a little male-bashing party you gals seem to want to throw. We're not all so bad, and we don't all like long hair on a woman. I personally enjoy my wife with short hair much better. But it varies from person to person what I like. The girlfriend I had in my early twenties I really liked with longer hair. But her hair was quite a bit staighter, and long just suited her better at the time. My wife has crazy curly auburn hair, and she's a lot cuter I think with a shorter cut. I tend to gravitate towards "cute" more than "beautiful" though, and find most shorter cuts to be on the cute end of the scale. I don't really like beyond shoulder length hair on any woman though. Since my wife has such curly hair, the only thing she can really do with it is let it grow or cut it off. Currently we're in let it grow mode, and I'll be thrilled when she gets tired of that. And by the way, the whole "chivalry" thing is over-rated and is really just a throwback to men's and women's roles from 50 years ago. I'm all for being nice, polite, and helpful (to everyone, not just women) but that should be a two-way street. If both parties in the relationship are equal, a lot of "chivalry" flies against that concept. If you want to be pampered fine, but don't hold the chivalry thing over my head. *ducks out before getting hit by a frying pan*

Geeeeesshhh the dolicket rears his head, and again assume that all men are being referred to. I will make myself clear...not all of anything is alike!!! Men included!!
Kudos for you being able to figure out that different women are different, some look good with long hair, some with short, and some even with no hair (but I think those are rare).
As far as "the chivalry thing" I agree to some extent, but not totally. I guess what I think of as chivalry is not the old "here let me do if for you so that you are beholden to me, and I own you type of stuff." It is more politeness, and I believe it is a two way street. So perhaps I ought to use a different word to describe it...it would go to holding the door at a store for others, assisting an elderly person or person in wheelchair or someone with small kids if you see they could use a hand. So call it what you will.
I have noticed one thing recently though. We have one very young secretary at my office...and she and her friends at least, have put women's rights issues back like decades...boys are suppose to pay, boys are supposed to plan dates....arrgggghhhh. Our youngest associate is pretty much the same way. It just makes my blood boil, and yes I tell them all the time that they have equal pay because we fought for it, and endured crap and now they are setting back time!!!

BNLater you didn't honestly think I'd let a day go by without giving you the opportunity to use that word did you?

You know it might be a nice change!!!!!
You see I have learned through years of experience that sometimes I am misread, or misunderstood, because often sarcasm and other tonal type things are not always easy to communicate in written form. So if I think that someone has taken me wrong, I try to straighten it out.

Hmmmmm hair I'm so vain about my hair it's amazing! My hair is very short, at the front I have an are that I comb over to the left so it almost comes over my eye, this is to allow full view of my eyebrow piercing. I have it shorter on the top and down the back where I spike it, have the tips highlighted blonde (natural hair colour is a dark blonde) and the sides I have shaved on a "number 4" I like the contrasts between the shaved sides and longer areas. Also I've found that girls like the shaved bits cos it's a different texture so is strokeable my male friends seem to like it too, although that could be because it's so extreme. Beck. P.S- I used to have long hair right down my back but it's just not me.

My sister shaves her head at random times..and that's always fun to "stroke". Extreme is nice.
I'm loving my hair. My long hair was amazing but...man, this hair so much softer and...it just makes me look very nice!
I haven't looked around, did anyone start the poll?

Been growin out my hair since September '03 to donate to Locks of Love. Getting it cut in about a week.
I love the fuzzy hair on guys, I always play with any of the guys in the band's hair when they shave their head. I think they've stopped because of that, actually.
