It's official... the Canadian Smarties came out first in 1937, then the American Smarties (otherwise known as Rockets in Canada) came out in 1949!
That would make sense mob, since for some odd reason I always preferred Smarties to M&M's...
Oh, and I found out that in the U.K., they used to come in tubes with a pop-off lid, but they're changing that to a cardboard box soon enough... Both types of Smarties originated from England, although the American kind was started in the U.S.
Any questions?

OK I find this so odd....what the Brits call Smarties are made by Nestles....which is very big in US. I wonder why they have not brought their Smarties over here. OK so that would have to change the name perhaps. All too odd.
Hey Marketed when do you leave for Chi town?

I can't say that I perfer one over te other... they do taste so different... at least as I can remember... I grew up vacationing every year...a couple hours north of toronto in the muskoka area.... it was this resort on the lake and they had a "snack bar" and a "game room". I can remember rationing out the roll of quarters my parents gave me for the week between the games and the snacks.... I used to love the hostess (was it hostess? or munchies?) ketchup chips.. and the pickle chips too... even better we would mix them together!! And AREO bars... Yum... Nothing too exciting about them.. .but yet I loved them!! And then there were the smarties.... The nestle smarties! They were good, but I much preferred to get an aero bar or kethcup chips over the smarties!

Aero bars, I have issues with them. As your paying for less chocolate than you'd get in any other chocolate bar as it's full of air! But having said that I can't resist Mint Aero's.

What is a wunder bar? I have had Aero Bars....not my style, it is mostly a texture thing. Nonick the next package I put together for you I will send an Aero bar...because we have lots of World Markets!! LOL And I will be able to send some Nestles Smarties....at least after they arrive in my mail!! The Kinder Eggs sounds fascinating....miniatures of what kinds of things?
Ludwig thank you for your most intersting and informative report....and so thorough too!!! I love learning new things....now I just have to find an opportunity that I can impress someone with this knowledge.
Ludwig are Rockets packaged like US Smarties? While I was out running around looking for a place to order Nestle Smarties, I found where they make huge US Smarties..that is just wrong.
BTW anyone need me to mail them a package of Nestles Smarties? I bought a box...cheaper to ship that way. Marketed....I can mail them to Chi town if you want, or wait until you get back home.
