Okay, not really, but this is an assignment that I'm doing. I'm just curious as to what other people's thoughts are.
I have to make a list of what images come to mind when I think of: men, women, heterosexuals, homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, transvestites, and sadomasochists.
What would your answers be?

I think that's a pretty bizarre homework assignment. I'm guessing it has something to do with stereotyping?

My guess is some sort of diversity requirement for graduation... I know I have a transgender paper due at some point mid semester for my diversity class. <sigh> Papers and other various schoolwork... oh how I did NOT miss it!

It's for gender and sexuality in art... which I am taking to fulfill a general ed requirement in humanities. And nope, iled, I'm three weeks into my fall semester.
I guess it is sort of bizarre, but within the context of the class it makes sense... It is about stereotypes and getting us to open our minds in a way... But mostly just to start us thinking about these kinds of things because we're going to be discussing them all semester and I guess most people have a hard time because they've never really thought about it before.
Me, I'm having a hard time because I think about it all the time -- I'm a lesbian who hangs out with all sorts of LBGTQI folks and practices BDSM -- and it all seems normal to me!
(Oh, and nonick, I would love to have an assigned transgender paper! I'm already debating between transgender/transsexuality and BDSM for my final topic for this class. Leaning toward the latter only because we have to look at visual things and I think it would be harder to find sources for TG/TS.)

Sometimes.... the people who stereotype the most are not the outsiders looking in, but the people with in looking out.
I'm not just talking about just gender and sexuality issues, I'm talking sterotypes in general.
