Okay, I'm starting this thread to post some of my fanfiction. For those who've never heard of it before, Urban Dictionary defines fanfiction as: A piece of fiction within a fandom utilizing characters and situations from a pre-existing work including (but not limited to) books, television programs, films, and comic strips.
Typically separated into het (male/female), slash (male/male or female/female), and general (non-romantic) genres. Often used to play out "alternate universe" scenarios and/or various romantic pairings not found in the original work.
Distributed via mailing lists, blogs, and zines. Heavily archived online. Each story will have a header with summary, warnings, etc., but I'm going to post a blanket notice here: most of my stuff is slash. Some is sexually explicit. Most of what I'll post here will be Harry Potter (since there seems to be a... slight interest on the board ) but other fandoms may find their way in. At the moment I'm mostly writing very short fics (drabbles), but I'm trying to work on some longer ones. Constructive criticism is always welcome!

Title: Meant To Be Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Gen, with the slightest hint of Harry/Ron Rating: PG Continuity: Seat near the beginning of the Goblet Of Fire movie.
Summary: It's not that Ron is bitter...
"Piss off," Ron mutters, and all right, maybe it isn't the most mature comeback in the history of the Wizarding world. Then again, Ron has never exactly been the most mature person around, either. It's not that he doesn't try. It's just that he seems to always be the goofy one, the clumsy one, the one that says exactly the wrong thing at exactly the wrong time.
He doesn’t mean to be bitter, and he’s not, not really. It’s just that he’s watching his best friends, the people he cares most for in the world, grow into the people they are meant to be, while he simply grows taller, and more awkward. He can’t help but wonder how long it will be before they realize what a burden he really is – silly Ron, the sidekick, not special, not much good at anything, really, aside from making a fool of himself – and leave him behind.
It is that fear that allows him to believe Harry is lying, and with that belief, thankfully, comes anger. Still, when he hears Harry move in the darkness, feels the mattress dip slightly as the other boy sits down on it, trying to say in silence what he could not with words, it is fear that makes Ron turn away, burrowing deeper under his covers, body tight and rigid and sending its own unspoken message: go away. Eventually, Harry does, and though the self-righteous anger that seems to have consumed Ron is quite pleased with itself, it still takes him a very long time to go to sleep.

Title: Summer Fandom: Harry Potter Pairing: Implied Hermione/Ginny. Can also be read as Hermione/Ron, if canon's your thing. Rating: PG-13 Continuity: Around 3rd or 4th year. Not really that important. Notes: I don't like the ending. But I couldn't seem to come up with anything better. :/ Summary: Hermione is bored. Summer in London was a funny thing. Just two days previously it had been fairly cool, even a bit rainy. Now, as Hermione stood at her bedroom window, hoping for a slight breeze, there was nothing but heat, pressing in on her from all sides. Her usually bushy hair trailed limply down her back, soaked with sweat and sticking to the exposed skin of her shoulders and neck. She sighed, looking out into the still night. It was late, well after midnight, but she couldn't sleep. It was too hot to do much of anything else, which on second thought, she supposed, was all right, because there was nothing to do. Hermione found herself longing to be back at Hogwarts, perhaps ensconced in the library, which her own admittedly sizeable collection of books could only hope to be when it grew up, or in the common room, writing out an essay for Transfiguration and listening to the chatter around her. Or perhaps, she thought, grinning slightly, being persuaded to leave off the homework until tomorrow. As much as she nagged her friends about responsibility, she had to admit that their efforts in distraction did not go entirely unappreciated. As her mind wandered, reminiscing over the past and flirting with the idea of future adventures, another thought occurred to her; more of an image, really. A pair of green eyes, staring back at her from the night. Smiling, Hermione moved away from the window to check the calendar. It had been nearly a month since the end of term. She gave it another week, tops, before an invitation arrived from the Burrow. Abandoning her post at the window, Hermione curled up on the bed, her fingers brushing the switch on her bedside lamp, as thoughts slightly more personal than those of homework and fun with friends overtook her. One more week...
