I'm sure I will try one. It depends on what my next test shows. My first test, I stopped breathing 10 times per hour, which is considered mild apnea. With my nose fixed, smaller tonisls, and sleeping on my side so my uvula isn't so much in the way I'm hoping that can be reduced to just a few times an hour. A dentist we're good friends with says the mouthpiece he creates, his patients have had very good results.
The easiest thing is surgery - then it's fixed for good. But I'm more worried about my throat having complications than I did my nose. My wife is a good indicator of how I'm sleeping - she's very aware of my breathing and says it's improved a lot in the last 6 months. That's why I went ahead and did the nose, just to see if that made a big difference. Glad to hear of someone who actually likes their mask.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea which was caused by large tonsils and had the test, I had 15 stoppages per hour, and it was caused by extra large tonsils which was the size of a golf ball - imgine having that stuck in your throat for 31 years. I had the tonsils removed and I have almost completely stopped having stoppages of breathing I have the odd one or two per night.
I had an opportunity to buy the machine but decided against it when I had a weeks trial to get used tot eh machine and after the first night I threw it across the room - took it back and said a big "No thanks"

So you had a complete tonsilectomy? Pretty dangerous past the age of 14 from what I understand. He just wants to shave mine, basically using a rotor to shave tissue off to where the gland meets the throat. Supposed to be safer.

Why is removal dangerous flipper? My brother had his out at like 20, and my roommate in college at 19.

I had a complete tonsilectomy after being hospitalised with dehydration three times due to severe tonsilitius and there was talk to shave the soft pallette but after an throat analysis they decided it wasn't required...
They take out he tonsils completely if it is deemed to be required, and being hospitilised 3 times and the actual size of the tonsils it was done, and had no troubles at all except for the odd throat infection
My daughter has her tonsils removed when she was 3 as she was diagnosed with severe form of child sleep apnoea and her tonsils and adenoids were HUGE!!!

And today the good people of Great Britain rise as one and head to the polling station to determine how much debt I'm in by the time I finish university.
Have a good one all xx

when I finish my degree it'll be about AUD$30,000 - what a lovely debt to hanging over my head unless I win the elusive lotto...

Dragon, I just finished paying off my student loans last year. The earning potential alone makes a degree worth while. It's a big picture kind of thinking. Which is very tough to keep ahold of sometimes.

Why is removal dangerous flipper? My brother had his out at like 20, and my roommate in college at 19. There are a lot of blood vessels where the tonsils themselves connect to your throat. The big danger is uncontrollable bleeding, and the next one is dehydration. Apparently these things become exponentially worse as you get older. Certainly in cases of chronic infection and such there's more risk in not taking them out. In my case, they're just big, and don't really need to completely come out. The shaving technique sort of accomplishes the goal without nearly the amount of risk. Hopefully I won't have to deal with it though after my nose is working good.

Ludwig, if you don't drink do you just splash the water on yourself? And don't the ice cubes hurt?
