I just dumped my pile o cruise stuff all over my bed today and tried it on, saying things like, "No, Robin, you cannot bring eight pairs of shoes just in case you need them" and "Oh good lord what was I thinking when I bought this?"
I think I have hacked the mound down to a somewhat more manageable level, though.

binsski it really is easier when you live in California and I have my normal attire that works for the cruise too! Six pairs of capris, a pair of shorts, a pair of jeans, seven shirts and a jacket, underthings and I should be set.

Yeah, my pile looks something like that now - I just had a whole load of potential junk I had heaved in there that I had to cull out. Crap, have to clear that all off the bed before I can fold laundry. Have to fold laundry before I can put my feet up and wind down for beddy bye. Bah, humbug.

I have to still go shopping for a couple more pairs of shorts....and dig up some t-shirts that fit! I am bringing way less stuff than last year.

Our neighbours just got back from a 1 year teaching exchange in Perth. They liked it but said it was sure different......the heat, no heating in the house, the Indian Ocean, the meat....all these really important things LOL

BNLater.. no swim suit?
One thing I had last year that was heavenly was clothes line... we could actually run it through the arm hole or whatever on our wet clothes and then tie it to the balcony so our clothes would dry without flying away. I want to make sure I bring that.
I have been thinking about the trip our and back and all the layering. I am not sure what jacket I want to bring.

surprising I might bring one. But I never used it last year, and not sure I would this year either. We are lucky that we don't need the heavy coats to get to the airport. I brought a jacket more to protect from wind last year, and never had to use it, but always good to have.

I had to use mine after a narrow strip of skin on both forearms got FRIED on my shore excursion last year. Funny though, when I got home after the cruise and I was in the bathroom at work scratching my arms where they were peeling, one of the girls that works here walked in and I told her that I hate the itchiness of peeling... her response was: "I do not feel sorry for you!" LOL The nerve...

Your co-workers are just rude! Not feeling sorry for you when you are peeling from a glorious cruise with your favorite band and friends. Last year I got no sun. I did my snorkel in a long sleeved button down. I love the sun, love, love, love it and I have to fight myself to stay covered when we are hottubbing in the summer. There must be some evolutionary reason basking in the sun feels so dang good. Maybe the vitamin D aspect, I don't know. I am going to be my usual pasty white self again this year though. I wish I didn't have to bring a jacket. I am not a jacket person so I won't need much. I don't plan on bringing one to use on the cruise but I do need one to get to the airport and home. This morning it was 14 but it is up to 24 now so we're havin' a heat wave!

I understand surprising. It is too bad that they don't have lockers in the airport anymore where you could leave the winter wear behind and pick it back up when you land.

I feel pretty confident that it will be warm enough here at midnight on the 24th/25th that I can get dropped off at the door and not need a coat. I am really trying to minimize what I bring.

I'm probably getting dropped off too, which means that my parents will take my winter coat home with them and then bring it back to the airport when I get back. That's what we did last year.

Think I am going to bring a hoodie sweatshirt for chilly evenings on deck (that wind) and a fleece with a windcheater layer to throw over it when I get back to the Frozen Northlands.
Although it's very nice here today...in the low 60s! (16ish, for the Celsius folks)
