Not exactly - the area they walked through was a grassy area that even the police didn't know was dangerous - apparently it was pitch black and raining so hard they couldn't tell the water was rushing until it was too late.

I saw some of that on the news, Flipper. I wondered how you were faring...
Monday was sunny here.... but now it's clouded up AGAIN. I'm tired of solid clouds and rain.... Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Yeah, it is so incredibly dangerous to drive through water when you don't know how deep it is. The girls walking just got caught by surprise, it was 2:00am and their cab got stopped by police so it wouldn't drive through an intersection under water. They got out to walk the rest of the way, not realizing the grassy area was a river and there was no time to react. Um, so the police let the girls walk that way??? I know it's their discretion, but jeez... That's just awful, Flip. We had big rains earlier this year, but no flooding near me THAT high!

Yeah, with it being so dark, nobody realized the little field had turned into a river. The police were scattered trying to shut down roads that were impassible. This was at like 2:00 in the morning, and nobody really understood how bad it had gotten. The water just sucked them into a big concrete hole where the water flowed into the storm sewer system.
