Just 10 or 11 more hours, and I'll get to see my brother. :-D I'm so freaking excited!
But for now, I'm at the airport. Waiting. And waiting. LAAAA!

Have a great time, yay. What a Wednesday. You haven't lived until you have gone bra shopping with a 12 year old. Especially when you get to the register and there is a 19ish MALE cashier. And then she goes red-faced to wait by the door of Target and runs into a boy from school who just asked her to go to the 6th-grade dance with him earlier in the day... I am so glad I am not 12.

I never had those problems binskki, and I was always thankful that I did not have a girl because it would be incredibly difficult for me to try to understand that stuff. I mean, it is a bra, looks like a bathsuit top that they wear in public, what is to be embarrassed about?

Apparently at Bridget's school, the girls don't say they are "embarrassed" - they say "that was so AWKWARD" with a sort of meaningful OMG-it's-something-naughty emphasis on AWKWARD.
I think I have heard the word "AWKWARD" at least 150 times this week so far.
Maybe I just embarrass her generally - when she started to complain in the dressing room that having me help her adjust her bra straps was AWKWARD I reminded her that I spent a number of years wiping her poopy bottom for her...
Not sure if she stopped complaining because it put the experience in perspective, or whether just was just deathly afraid of how AWKWARD it would be if any of the other ladies in the dressing room overheard me...God forbid.

My daughter was sooo funny when she was growing up. After she got her "training" bra, she wore a white button up shirt to school so her "straps" would show and everyone would know she had a bra on. What a cheeser. I think it is a right of passage in Texas. Just another reason my granddaughter is not going to be raised there.
I was laughing with my daughter the other day. She was telling me about a girlfriend with a teenager and the teenager wouldn't wear anything from a "non-mall" store. I had to remind Miranda that if I DROVE THROUGH the parking lot of the thrift store, she would lay in the floor of the car so no one would see her.
If I made her go into the local KMart she would be paranoid the whole time that someone would "see her." I kept trying to tell her, if they see you in here, that means they are in here too. She finally saw the tennis shoes a "popular" girl had at the KMart one day and she was so incredulous that they were being sold in KMart. I said, see, now you can go and tell her that you know she doesn't get all her clothes at the mall... but she couldn't because if she said something they "crowd" would have known she was in Kmart.
Oy. I am sooo glad I am not young.

LOL, surprising...some things are universal.
The good thing about aging is that it keeps getting you further from adolescence...THANK GOD!

Welcome to Humpday. I hope that everyone's week is going well, any fun plans? Bob and I are seeing Alan Parsons Project tomorrow night at a great small outdoor venue in San Diego..........I just wish the patrons were as wonderful as the venue! Then we have two baseball games this weekend. Sorry Red Sox fans, but here's hoping that the Padres kick their butts!

Tomorrow we (Kent, Brandon, the dog and I) are going up in the mountains to sit in the shade and play cards. Kind of like day camping. We roast hot dogs and just relax and have fun. We will leave after I get back from the doctor with Miranda. She is going to find out how she is doing again.

Tis hump day yet again. Any fun plans for the weekend? We are seeing All Shook Up, a musical with all Elvis music. It should be fun. The rest of the weekend will be spent getting the house ready for the open house on Sunday.

Kent and I are having a smoker party (smoked mesquite meat, not the other stuff ) for about 25 people on Sunday. I am trying to get the pool table cleared off and stuff put away that I took out of the guest room when Brandon moved back home. It is amazing how much crap two people can have. We are slowly getting there. I really hate cleaning house, but it doesn't have to be perfect since people will be running in and out anyway. We haven't had a party for a while so it will be a lot of fun.

That sounds like a lot of fun surprising. Not the cleaning part, that sucks, but the smoked meat part. What kind of meat do you smoke?
