Regular monday here... Found out I passed Algebra II this 9 weeks, barely, but I did! Ironically, I did fine in all my other classes. Anyways, its been a long weekend. We had Friday off, but not today to make up a past snowday.
I spent the afternoon unicycling, and I am getting very good now! Practice makes perfect, I think every night I can go about 5 more feet than the night before, and I can go about 40 feet or more. (I'm just guesstimating!)
Hope everyone is doing well, I'm heading off to bed to watch Jay Leno for a bit then to sleep.

Devin congrats on passing Alegbra II. Have you tried a tutor? I know for my son an hour with a tutor was probably equal to 3 weeks in class. He would often times have a moment with the tutor where it all became clear to him. You might try it. Also congrats on getting the unicycle down. My ex could ride one really well, but I never could get it!

No tutor here, just a lot of sucking up to the teacher. I plan on going to Art School, no math skills required really, that's why you have a portfolio. All I need to do is pass this 9 weeks and no more math classes for me!

The funny thing is devin, you never know where life is going to take you! I wouldn't cut math out of your life just yet....

I was not disagreeing mob. In fact, I was encouraging her to get a tutor!

I don't really think a tutor would help, maybe it would... but I just suck at math and always will. I think I am really starting to understand things better as they are now anyways.
I am facing a dilemma right now and I need everyone on here's advice! You see, I didn't plan on going to prom, which is next Saturday. I didn't really wanna go because it's not exactly my thing, but a little part of me is saying go for it. My mom thinks I should go, because I may regret it. The problem is, I absolutely HATE dresses! I would like to just go casual and get a nice black pant-suit and wear a nice, new pair of my "signature" converse chuck taylors. Dresses or being fancy is not really my thing, but I think that would be sort of cool, casual and modern.
I'm not really sure what I want to do just yet... everyone's input would be great. thanks!

Devin, be yourself. If a dress isn't you don't wear one. If a nice pantsuit is your style than there is no doubt that is what you should wear. Speaking as a mother of a child that I have to coax into things and then she ends up loving them, I would ask you to go. Even if you don't love it, you may look back years from now wishing you had gone.
I hate dresses too, don't mind them on others, just not me. I too am a pant suit kinda gal.

If you are having any interest in going, or curiosity I think you should go. Life is what you make of it...and so is prom. You want to have a good time? Devin, you MAKE IT a good time. Don't let all the preconceptions of what prom is and what is should be scare you away. Do it up Devin style. Go in a pants suit...wear a big smile, and have a ball! Who gives a rats ass if you are not in a overpriced scantily clad dress?
I think it would be cool if you rode in on your unicycle in the gopher costume. But then again, I could never do that...I would end up with too many broken bones! LOL!
I loved my prom I had a fabulous time. But, it is only one night...and does not define my life today in the least. I would still be here today had I not gone to prom.

In the small school I go to, it's not really as big of a deal as it is in bigger schools. It's Saturday, so I need to figure out whether I'm going really soon. Mom's gonna call the tuxedo place, I think I want to get something funny, yet unique, like a pink tux. I think that'd be cool.

I COMPLETELY agree with the "be yourself" theme. I never went to a single prom, and while I don't regret it, I think maybe I didn't go just to prove a point. That point being not everyone has to do everything exactly the same way, in the same order, dress the same, and enjoy the same things. If wearing a pink tux and going seems like fun then do it. If having to "conform" and wear a dress makes it seem like a miserable evening then don't attend. Sometimes we all participate in things that seem like bad ideas, and we end up really enjoying ourselves. I'd say if there's a way you can attend, but with your own personal style then you've achieved the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I hope my best friend can go or else I will have no one to go with, I probably should've been thinking about this sooner, but I wouldn't even been thinking about it if my mom hadn't convinced me otherwise.

Devin, I love the idea of a pink tux!! That would be fantastic! I did not go to proms either, although I did all of the lighting for two of them. It was just not my thing, much to my mom's disappointment!

Well, my friend has just informed me that she can't go, she has to work. I'm not really sure what I want to do now. Dancing isn't really my thing, I just want to hang out like most people. And, I'm not even sold on the fact if I really, really want to go or not.
