Hello Dahlink's,
Here is the email I sent to my "peeps" tonight. I promised myself to be in be by midnight so I have so run but thanks so much for all the good wishes. Things are going great and Kent is just the most amazing thing ever.

Kent's knee replacement surgery went really well. He was in surgery for just over two hours. A lot of the time was spent messing with the soft tissue to make his leg straight. It has been so long since his leg was straight Dr. Baranko really had to do a lot with the ligaments. That is going to cause a bit more pain than Dr. Baranko was expecting but it will be so nice for Kent in the long run. Dr. Baranko is really, really lovely.
Kent got to his room about 11:30 and dozed on and off all day. I left there just after 10 tonight and he was doing well. Tomorrow he will get the IV and the dilaudid drip out and start his physical therapy.
He had an oxycotin and femoral nerve block before the surgery and it really did a great job of pain control. He was starting to "feel" his knee when I left tonight so the block is probably wearing off but he hadn't had any pain med's since 3 PM so he is a macho rock star! I should have said macho mathematician, rock stars are usually wimps and he is NOT wimpy.
He is at ********* Hospital in room **** but there is quite a bit scheduled between the two PT sessions a day and all the other "fun" things they have planned. If you want to see him but you don't make it by the hospital you are always welcome here at the house. His recovery will be an ongoing thing for a while. We are so excited he had this done. It is going to make such a difference for him. I think one reason he was able to stay so low on the pain scale without hitting the button for any pain med's (which was AMAZING to the nurse) is because he has been in pain for so many years he doesn't know what it is like to feel good.
You can call me ***-**** if you have any questions about how he is doing. I will be there early in the morning and plan to be there most of the time. His nurses have been lovely but the aide he had tonight (Doug) was NOT the valedictorian of his class. IF he got his degree (or certification) from Weber State Kent and I were laughing that he would have been one of the ones trying for a waiver. I think he may have gotten his certification from Eagle Gate. (LOL from the girl that doesn't want to do her math requirement... yes... I get that I am throwing rocks while living in a glass house but seriously people.... he was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.) Everyone is actually quite lovely and they are taking good care of him but...I feel better being there knowing that he is being taken care of properly (by my definition of properly).
I just wanted to send out an update so you would all know how things are going. I hope things are going well in your world.
xoxo
