Narcissus (whatever?) yah, what she said! They are bulbs and they grow right before your eyes (well almost) and they get a pretty little flower on them and they are very very smelly. I love them. Those and amarylis (whatever? LOL) they are nice and they get a HUGE flower on them, red, white, pinkish varities. I get the deepest red I can find. They are hard to kill but they do take 6-8 weeks and I am on the end of six weeks so I hope it blooms in time for Christmas. A simple yet elegant decoration IMHO

Love, love, love the paperwhites and amaryllis. So pretty. lovely gift too.
I told Kent that we need to decorate this weekend. He is maybe up for it. It takes days to get all the crap out so if we don't start now then I won't want to do it.
I have three or four singing/dancing Santas.
How long do kids believe in Santa anyway? How long do I have to watch that glow of magic imagination in Madelyn's eyes before she becomes cynical but accepting for Vincent's sake? Anyone know?
I love this time of year but it is so fleeting!

the kids and I are finding Christmas has lost its shine and we are putting up a small fibre optic tree just for some Christmas spirit...

surprising that is very hard to tell really. I think some kids believe longer than others, and some fake it worrying that the present will stop. We still talk about santa being a symbol of the season rather than a jolly guy that comes down the chimney. Have you read the Polar Express? That is a great book for kids!!!

I posted to this a while ago but it may have disappeard to outerspace.
DH - If you put spirit into Christmas you will get spirit out of Christmas! That is how i look at it anyways.
Our kids are 8 and 11 and I am thinking the 11 year old is starting to wonder. Some of her friends talk about it and she asks us, we talk about believing and that if you believe that is what it is about for us. So surprising, you have a few more believing years anyways. They are great aren't they!
What is on Madelyns wish list this year? Our kids want a Wii.

Emily and Heidi, tuzzi's girls, helped my put up my tree tonight. I need a taller one, maybe I'll buy one during the after Christmas sales. I also heard my first Christmas song on the radio today, Do They Know It's Christmas! I'm officially in the spirit now!

We got our tree for the family room yesterday. It is currently in the five gallons of water. I hope that Bob can actually get in the house Wednesday, but that is pretty doubtful! Ahhh well, another year without much assistance to do the house. I guess that is getting to be the pattern! I was hoping to do two trees, but it will kill me to do this one I think. But I am starting my cookies tonight!

LOL mob you did that in one day? LOL my hubby collects santas, so it is impossible to do the full out Christmas decorating in one day. I have never fully inventoried the santas, but I would guesstimate that he has in excess of 4,000 santas, and then there are the other Christmas decorations on top of that. That also does not count the boxes and boxes and boxes of ornaments! But I envy you at this point.
